Research Library of the Historical Society of Whitehall

The Society Library is located on the second floor of the Isaac C. Griswold Library at 12 Williams Street, Whitehall, New York.

The Griswold-Wilkins home was given to the Village by the daughter of Editor Wilkins & is now home for the two libraries.  It has a brick exterior & the interior has high ceilings & a graceful stairway.

The Research Library of the Whitehall Historical Society in its rooms over the Griswold Public Library was started by the late Town & Village Historian Doris Begor Morton.

The Research Library is open to the public on Tuesday mornings from 9am to noon or by appointment.  To make an appointment contact us at our homepage.

Volunteers of the Society offer a search service.  The search will include a review of the material in our library which is listed below.  The collection has not yet been entirely catalogued and is constantly expanding.

There is a $10.00 search charge.  A search can contain multiple names or subjects. Material which will not be harmed by the process can be duplicated for $.50 each page.  A stamped self-addressed envelope is requested.  The more information that can be provided about the person or subject of the search, the better we will be able to find information to assist you.

We invite you to enrich our archives with any material you might have about our town and the surrounding area.  It will be a pleasure to add your family history to our growing files.  This will ensure your research will survive for future generations.
